Paperman in competition at Visioni dal Mondo 2020!

Metropolis is happy to announce Paperman 's official selection at the Visioni dal Mondo Festival in Milan!

The documentary competes in the section "Stories from the Contemporary World", which recounts how today's Italian filmmakers see the contemporary. For its sixth edition, the Festival offers an entirely online formula from  Semptember 17th to 21st 2020, allowing anyone, who registers to view the films selected for the various sections for free.

Synopsis:

IT, UK, 2018. James Lake, 44, makes large sculptures using small pieces of cardboard. At 17 his right leg was amputated: closed in his bedroom, unable to move, he discovered in that light and easily available material the ideal medium to communicate.
Today his sculptures, made with a unique technique in the world, continue to speak of human fragility. The film follows James on his journey from Devon to the Lucca International Paper Biennalewhere he was invited to create a monumental cardboard sculpture, the largest and most demanding of his career.

Paperman is a universal parable about overcoming one's limits - both physical and psychological - and about the value of growth and change.
